General

What is the definition of a student storage load?
A student load is up to a maximum of 15 items. Each item can be a normal box, bag or suitcase. Maximum weight per item is 20kg.  This is also the Typical Student Load = 1 cubic metre.

What packing materials are included in the price?
The Uni Move Student Packing Kit includes:
8 x book boxes
4 x large boxes
2 x cd boxes
1 x packing tape
1 x marker pen.

What size are the boxes?
Book box: 18” x 18” x 10”, or 450mm x 450mm x 250mm
(length x width x height)
Large box: 18” x 18” x 20”, or 450mm x 450mm x 500mm
CD box: holds 90 CDs or 39 DVDs.

Can I use my own boxes and luggage?
Yes, if you prefer. The important thing to remember is that a single box or bag must not weigh more than 20kg for health and safety reasons. Smaller boxes should be used for books, CDs and records. Suitcases should only be used for clothes, not books or files.

Why is your service such good value?
We store and move the possessions of thousands of students each year. We are the specialists. This allows us to operate in the most efficient way. We also monitor the prices of our competitors, to make sure we provide the best quality and value service.

Can I share with a friend?
Yes. However, we can only deal with one person, and collect from one location and deliver to one location, if you choose to share. You are entitled to one 'student load' per order, additional packages incur additional cost.

What are your payment terms?
To confirm the booking, we take payment in full by credit or debit card. This can be done online or over the phone.

Are my goods insured?
Yes. At time of booking, you will be asked to declare the value of goods to be moved or stored. A value of up to £3000 is included in the storage deal, with no additional charge.

I have a delicate item I am concerned about. What should I do?
Please let us know before collection. We have special boxes and materials for fragile items such as plasma screens, mirrors, golf clubs etc.

I live in a Hall of Residence. Do I have to bring my boxes to the car park?
It is up to you. If you do bring them to the car park or the door nearest to the car park, there is no extra charge. If you would like us to collect the boxes from your room, there is an additional one-off charge of £25.00.

Is there an excess baggage charge?
Yes. If you have more than the 15 items, do not worry. There is a one-off excess baggage charge of only £10.00 per item. The same charge applies if one item is too heavy, or if the box is too weak and we have to re-pack to make it safe.

What if I run out of boxes?
All our vehicles carry spare boxes and tape. However, to make sure, you should call the office as soon as you realise you will need more boxes. Additional boxes cost £2.50 each.

When do I pay any excess baggage or additional box charges?
We will request payment before re-delivering your possessions.  You can pay in cash to the driver.

What should I write on the boxes?
On all items, please write the following on the top and at least one side, in black marker and in block capitals:

YOUR NAME
MOBILE PHONE NUMBER
RETURN DESTINATION
RETURN DATE

What if I don’t know the return address or date?
Give your best estimate. You can provide the exact details at least 7 days before re-delivery.

Can I cancel and get a refund?
Yes. You can cancel your move or storage at any time via email or telephone.

If you cancel before the packing kit has been dispatched, you will be refunded in full. If you provide at least 24 hours notice of a cancellation, prior to collection, but after the packing kit has been dispatched, the cancellation fee is 50%. If you fail to provide at least 24 hours notice of a cancellation or fail to be present at the collection, the cancellation fee is equal to 90% of the total price.

Moving and relocation

Do you offer local, short distance moves?
Yes, if there is a vehicle and time available.

Storage

Are my possessions safe?
Yes. Goods are stored in clean, dry and safe facilities with 24 hour security.

How long can I store for?
The Summer Storage deal includes storage for a maximum of 16 weeks. For longer storage periods, please call or email.

Worldwide shipping

Why can't I get an instant quote online?
Door-to-door shipping is more complex than domestic moving. We check several carriers to get the best price. Simply enter the key details into the enquiry form and we will contact you with the best price.
